From Crescent Park into Bywater
At the downriver end of Crescent Park, leave through the opening in the floodwall and descend to Chartres Street. The Joint is about a block away, with Bacchanal and Parleaux farther downriver.
Chartres is smoothly paved but can carry drivers detouring around a train at St. Claude Avenue. Royal Street offers more neighborhood character, though many side streets are bumpy.
Approaching Frenchmen Street legally
Ride Royal to Elysian Fields, turn toward the river, and continue to Esplanade Avenue by the Old U.S. Mint. Turn onto Frenchmen with traffic rather than riding against the one-way flow.
For the return to the French Quarter, turn from Frenchmen onto Burgundy, cross the Esplanade median, ride one block to Dauphine, and continue toward the shop.
Returning through a family music corridor
The Dauphine Street return passes Matassa's Market and brings riders near Cosimo Matassa's original J&M Recording Studio.
